Director, Discovery Biology, Immunology
Lead discovery biology for T cell engagers designed to reset the immune system in autoimmune disease. You will take two programs from target validation to development candidate.
A typical mandate
The company engineers bispecific antibodies that deplete pathogenic immune cells in autoimmune disease. It was founded on protein engineering work from an academic lab and closed its Series A last year. The next step is nominating development candidates, and that rests on the biology team.
What the role owns
- Lead in vitro and in vivo pharmacology for two discovery programs
- Design assays that predict depth of B cell depletion and safety in humans
- Define candidate selection criteria with protein engineering and translational colleagues
- Manage CRO studies, including humanized mouse and non-human primate work
- Hire and mentor a team of scientists and research associates
- Present data and recommendations to the CSO and scientific advisory board
What great candidates bring
- PhD in immunology or a related field, plus 8+ years in industry
- Experience advancing biologics toward IND, ideally T cell engagers or other bispecifics
- Strong background in B cell or T cell biology and autoimmune disease models
- Comfort with translational questions such as cytokine release and depletion kinetics
- Experience leading and developing scientists
- Clear scientific writing for IND-enabling reports
Why it matters
- Early leadership role with meaningful equity
- Direct partnership with the founders and CSO
- A lab-based role with a direct line to program decisions
- Room to grow into a head of biology role
